Synopsis

Advances in Pharmacology and Integrative Therapeutics connects traditional healing systems to modern, mechanism-driven drug discovery with an emphasis on how pharmacological knowledge translates into better and safer therapeutics. Across its chapters, the volume moves through foundational perspectives from integrative traditions such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and then into contemporary challenges that demand urgent pharmacological solutions, emerging infections and antimicrobial resistance while also exploring the renewed scientific interest in bioactive natural products and phytochemicals as modulators of inflammation, cancer biology and metabolic and infectious disease.

Edited by Bilal Aslam, Wafa Majeed, Asra Iftikhar, Sana Javed and Ifraha Abbas, this book highlights not only “what works,” but also why it works—linking molecular pathways, pharmacodynamics and real-world constraints such as resistance, safety and accessibility. By integrating discussions on phytochemical mechanisms, diabetes management through plant-derived bioactive compounds, psychosomatic dimensions of therapy and the clinical realities of multidrug-resistant infections - the contributors collectively underscore a unifying message: future therapeutics will be increasingly integrative, evidence based and responsive to complex patient and population needs.
